Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoos

I am wondering why powder eyeshadow palettes are still so much in demand. The minute we see a nice one, we want it...regardless whether we buy it or not. The reason I ponder is because with the cosmetic stores overflowing with cream based eyeshadows, why would you need powder eyeshadows, I mean come on...not only are they true to color, extremely pigmented, blendable (depending on brand) and long lasting...they also come in the convenient forms of pencils and pots as opposed to powders that can get pretty messy. And these days eyeshadows are almost always layered over some cream product to make it pop.

Ahh the vanity of a woman!! Still can't ditch coveting lovely new powder eyeshadows, but I digress...

The color tattoos, who has not heard of these. Pioneer of cream eyeshadows, Maybelline came out with these few years back and well, the rest is history.

I'll do 3 at a time...

Price: About 50 dhs.

Packaging: A heavy glass tub that has the color of the product on the sticker at the top. It twists down, but you have to be careful and give them a good tight twist to prevent them from drying out or cracking at the edges though the latter is ultimately inevitable. That does not mean they are dry though.

Product: They come in an assortment of colors and once applied, they're not budging. They make for excellent bases and do not crease.

Toughest Taupe, Pomegranate Punk, On and on Bronze

On and on Bronze, Pomegranate Punk and Toughest Taupe

All three are pigmented but the first one on top has a high metallic finish. It's an ideal stand alone color for the lid. The maroon shade is quite funky, and can be used as a base under a neutral shadow to spice things up, it has a satin finish. The last one is matte and hence a little bit drier in texture, but makes such a lovely smoky eye.

Corresponding swatches: Eternal Silver, Eternal Gold, Timeless Black

I've had these three for longer so in the first 2 you can see the cream separating from the sides of the tub, but the consistency is still smooth. With the first 2 you have to be extremely careful or you may end up looking like a disco ball, both have glittery finishes and are very festive. The sliver is a real silver..whereas gold is a beautiful true gold, not too yellow nor is too bland. The black is deeply pigmented so it can get messy while blending. Its a matte. Just use a tiny amount and build it up as you go along. Its so nice as a base for neutral eyeshadows, or to calm down a bright bold color you would not usually use.

Get yourself at least one if you love eye makeup...its worth it...
