Guerlain L'OR Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold Makeup Base

Who would have thought it? Gold in makeup...as if gold jewelry wasn't enough, they take the lure of this precious metal and put it in a makeup base claiming that it enhances the look of the skin and tightens fine lines. Does the gold really do anything? Keep reading to find out what my thoughts are on this product.
Guerlain L'or Makeup Base

Guerlain is a super luxury makeup brand that is most famous for its range of bronzers, its meteorite powder (that comes in little multi colored balls) and its meteorites primer. It is more slightly more expensive than other luxury brands like Lancome or Illamasqua.

Price: Around 350 dhs...no thats not a typo there.

Packaging: To die for...I mean just look at that bottle. The pump dispenses just the right amount of product.

Product: Of course the look of this product makes you biased from the start, but I think the gold flecks don't do much, except that it reels you in. Its a gel consistency and since it is not silicon based, it does not give that slick slippery feel to your skin, yet it does indeed fill in tiny pores around the nose and chin area and it does tighten the skin every so slightly. It is hydrating and can be used as a moisturizer even for oily skin, but you're not using this as a moisturizer if you have it...its far too precious for that. Over all I don't see any prominent visible difference between how the skin looks with the primer underneath any foundation except that it feels great, the foundation goes on smoother, last longer and because of the slightly tightening effect, it gives a smoother looking finish. Is it a must have...no. Are there foundations that will do the job from cheaper brands out there? Well the job part yes, but I have not seen this gel formulation in a primer that is not silicon based. But there are primers that will prolong foundation and make skin look smoother out there.

Skin without foundation or primer...got a little scratch there

A little bit of the L'or

A close up

The primer smoothed out...the gold flecks sort melt away.

After applying foundation, fine lines gone (not the foundation that did it).

Buying this product is purely a matter of spoiling yourself, its a luxury and absolutely a personal choice.
