The Makeup Color Series: Bright Whites

White is such an unassuming color. I suppose its the mathematical equivalent of zero...literally having no value, yet without it, the whole world would crumble away...

Though in "The Makeup Color Series" I'll be going through some products I think are awesome in that color range, I'm starting out by the most overlooked and underrated color...white.

These are from my stash, but loads of brands do all the items and they are easily available. So moving on...

1. Translucent Loose Powder:

Shiseido Loose Powder (Sample size)

  • Use this to set your makeup after you are done. Prolongs the wear and doesn't change the color of you foundation because it has no pigment.
  • Comes in two main formulas, one with a sheen, one mattifying.

2. White Lip Product -OCC Lip Tar:

OCC Lip Tar in Iced

  • This is a unique product and mainly used to lighten a lip product what may be too bold or bright for your liking.
  • This particular item also has great staying power so it will have that effect on the lippy you are lightening. (See review here.)

3. White Eyeshadow Base:

Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eyeshadow
(Maybelline Eyeshadow Mousse shown in main picture on top was nicked by my small son..its MIA)

  • Using a white eyeshadow base does wonders for your eye color, usualy making it brighter. You can also lighten an intense color making it softer.
  • Increases longevity and helps with fall out.
  • Comes in liquid, cream, mousse and pencil forms. NYX do a white base pot that is amazing.

4. White Eyeshadow:

The white eyeshadow in a Flormar Palette in 407

  • I don't have an individual white shadow, all of mine are in various palettes, but this shadow can be used as inner or brow highlight and in the inner third corner to make eyes look more apart and bigger.
  • Occasionally I'll use it to highlight cheekbones and bridge of bones...it gives just that hint of brightness,
  • Can be used to sheer out a dark color. All you need are 2 colors, a dark color and a white. Blend them out to achieve the look wanted.

5. White Eyepencil:

Max Faxtor eye pencil in white.

  • Line those inner rims and they make your eyes look bigger and more wide awake.
  • Another thing is to draw dots on either eye to mark where you want to extend your eyeliner. You can even draw it out roughly and since its white, once the black liner goes on no one will be the wiser.

6. White Lip Gloss:

MAC Lustreglass in Lustrewhite

  • Make your matte lipstick glossy by applying this, or simply dot a little on your lower lip to give a more pouty look.
  • Use a teeny tiny bit on your lids to give them that glossy look.

Yup that's about it. Hope this was helpful.
