Since I've done posts previously on eye bases and primers (click here) and cream eye shadows (click here); and while the subject is still fresh, I'd like the opportunity to share a recipe on how to make your own eye primer, completely free of cost at home.
To test this primer, I swatched a NYX single eyeshadow in shade "Springleaf". The first swatch is the eyeshadow without primer, the second with Urban Decay Primer Potion and the third with my own home made primer:

Corresponding swatches
Without any primer, the color is less vibrant and goes on somewhat sheer. There was hardly any staying power.
With UDPP the color is more pigmented. Longevity was about 4-5 hours.
With the home made primer, not only is the color more intense, it is smoother looking. Longevity was longer about 6-7 hours without smudging and since there is concealer it also eliminated discoloration of the lids giving a more true to pan color.
So what is the recipe:
Ingredients:
A little pot
A tooth pick to mix
A touch of concealer (optional)
2 tsp of foundation
2 tsp of body butter (preferably unscented) or in my case I used eye cream (which has added function of eye treatment)
1 tsp cornflour (to absorb oils)
Just mix them all up thoroughly and voila.
Thank you soooo much for the post. Tried the recipe. Awesome result!
