Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

So many brands bring out eyeshadow palettes with a host of finishes and colors, sometimes it becomes difficult to just stick to the basics having so many options thrust into your face. And this is why this palette is holds a special place for me- its simple, to point and there is no drama.

The Front

The Back

The Inside (has a nice mirror)

An idea of the size of the palette.

Price: Here is is available over a margin of 150-250 dhs depending where you buy it from.

Packaging: Its a sturdy plastic and it has a solid clicking lid, the type of click you know won't open unless you open it. It doesn't come with any primer or pencil or brush unlike other palettes that do. The mirror is an added bonus. Its compact and sleek and doesn't take up much room in your makeup bag even though it could play a big role if this is your kind of thing.

Product: As a person becomes more mature, a point comes when you just can't be sporting a glittery eye lid all the time without looking funny. Also shimmer or glitter can settle into fine lines accentuating them. This is more true in the day time or in the great outdoors. Enter this palette, it is perfect for everything even a glamorous smoky eye thanks to the black provided. All the shadows are soft and pigmented except for "Naked 2" which though pigmented, felt a little grainy to me.

Venus, Foxy and W.O.S

When the word 'basics' is used you would assume that all of them are mattes when infact there is one shimmery shade which is strategically placed in the beginning. That was very clever, the rest are indeed all matte.

Venus is a shimmery/satin finish creamy white. Good for inner corner or over the eyelid with another darker shade.

Foxy is more yellow toned, for my skin tone looks nice as a wash of color over the eyelid.

W.O.S is a more peach toned. Its slightly lighter than my own skin tone to its a lovely blending shade/transition shade.

The next three shades:

Naked 2, Faint and Crave

Naked 2 is very unique because what I see in the pan is so different from what I get as color pay off. Its a taupy mushroom color but though very buttery, its quite subtle for my skin tone. It would not show up much on my lid so I would use this as a blending color too.

Faint is a medium to dark brown (buildable) more suited for accentuating the crease, but I like to use it all over the lid and on the lower lashline to blend out black eyeliner.

Crave a very dark and pigmented black. Its a black in all its glory, use it for a smoky eye, as a liner as an outer V color...

This is a must have in my opinion and is one the most versatile products out there.

Marks: 10/10

Dupe Alert: I did a review of the Flormar Pretty Palette in no. 47 (click here) and notice that the vanilla, peach and medium brown in that palette are more or less the exact same as Venus, Foxy and Faint respectively from this palette...its a cheaper alternative.
