Colors to Flatter Brown Eyes

In a post I did few days back, I mentioned that brown and black eyes girls are lucky because their eye color is neutral (with maybe some warm or cool flecks) and hence they are able to make most colors work to enhance it.

Which got me to thinking about some colors that would look amazing, and suggestions for you.

Some shades might push you out of your comfort zone, but you could always use the brighter or bolder colors as a liner shade under your eyes rather than a full on lid color. Once again I want to remind you that the swatches that will come later are without primer so obviously with primer they come off as more intense.

So here we go...

What colors? From L to R: Navy/deep blue, burgundy, slate/dark/gunmetal gray, deep purples, moss/olive green, gold, bronze and in the middle champagne, and glittery black....

Here are the eyeshadow swatches and their names for reference..

1. Mac Blue Flame (Veluxe Pearl Finish)- Use this all over the lid and blend it out with a vanilla/gold color or on the more timid note, line the lower lash line.

2. The Body Shop Shimmer Cube in Ruby- Just lightly sweep this shade all over your lid, extend into crease and lower lash line. Top of with mascara and line inner rims with black kohl for a modern smoky eye.

3. Essence Metallic Effect Eyeshadow in no.14 Irresistible- Grays are so much more forgiving than plain black. Sweep over the lids or just in the outer V area to emphasize eyes.

4. Essence Metallic Effect Eyeshadow in no.26 Disco Queen- All hues of purple look amazing on brown or black eyes and it such a versatile color. Can't go much wrong with that.

5. Essence Sparkling Effect Eyeshadow in no. 27 Love Talk- Moss greens or the darker olive greens make brown eyes look more lighter and give the illusion of little flecks. I love this category best on me.

6. Essence Sparkling Effect Eyeshadow in no. 24 Love Me- Golds are beautiful on brown or black eyes, only trick is to use a less sparkly one in the day time. You can go crazy with a super shimmery one like this at night with plenty of black liner.

7. NYX Single Eyeshadow in Bronze- Use it like the burgundy or in the crease but personally I like blending it under the eye with the black kohl I line my inner rims with. Makes for an amazing reverse smoky eye.

8. Max Factor Eyeshadow in 101 Pebble- Just a universal champagne/ vanilla shade for a no fuss lid color. Top of with brown liner and plenty of mascara. Just be sure use a good primer otherwise that glitter is going to get everywhere.

9. Sephora My Mini Eyeshadow in 06 Glam's Black- Again it is not a very deep black but it has hints of glitter the camera did not pick up too well. It would look amazing as a stand alone lid color for a special night out.

Being a dark brown eyed girl myself, these are my preferred eye colors to use though the possibilities are endless. There are no rules for what to do and you can run free and wild wherever your imagination takes you, but this was just a general summation on what flatters brown eyes girls most.

Hope it was helpful and inspired you to try some new looks.

Do you have any favorite eyeshadows that you use all the time? Let me know.
