The Tarte of Giving Pure Delights Lipsurgence Set

Now I realize that writing a review on a limited edition item is pretty pointless because if you like it, you will probably not be able to get your hands on it, but the point of this post is to give you my opinion on the lipsurgence liptints by Tarte. Now all eight of these shades (4 glossy and 4 matte) are also limited edition but at least you'll know what they do for you and then it's just a matter of shade selection from the permanent line.

Price: This set was about 35 US dollars for 8 miniature sized lipsurgence liptints but a single full sized one is available for about 130dhs.

Packaging: So it is a chubby lip stick that twists up. The golden cap is cool and the glossy ones have a glossy exterior and the matte ones have a matte exterior. The tube on seven of the eight sticks pretty much depicted the shade inside, but one was lighter on the outside compared to the actual product on the inside.

The amount of product in the small size and this one in Glee has a lighter tube than the product.
Product: These have a nice texture but the glossy ones come out pretty sheer. They have a strong minty smell and tingles on your lips for a while but both reduce after a few minutes. The tingly sensation is supposed to be soothing and plumping, I don't notice either. The longevity is not much on the glossy ones but the matte ones stay on for a bit, and when the color wears off there is a slight tint left to your lips that stays on for a while.

Glossy Lipsurgence: For someone with medium to dark skin tones, these particular type of colors won't do much. They are very sheer and one particular shade didn't turn up on my lips, but they do have good hydrating properties and I noticed that my slightly chapped lips looked better after applying these. Best if you want a nice subtle flush on your lips.

Matte Lipsurgence: These are definitely more pigmented and more long lasting. They are nice and matte but not drying and after the initial tingly feeling dissipates, they feel nice on the lips.

I just feel that these are over hyped and over priced, I mean the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are just as good if not better. It's a beautiful luxury product, very nice to give as a gift since I could probably get a lot of use out of them because of the wearability of the colors but it's a splurge product. Buying this set was economical since you are getting a bang out of your buck, but a single lipsugence? I'll pass.
