Essence Pigments

Ever tried something that got you hooked from the minute you tried it….my experience with these gorgeous little pots was just that and I’m hooked…bad!

Price: For once, a product not too difficult to find here and surprisingly yet deceivingly cheap at 14 UAE dhs a pop. The base costs just 10 UAE dhs.

Packaging: These little plastic pots contain 1.8 grams of product which is not bad really, considering the itty bitty amount you need. I’d probably never run out. The sifter inside is also not bad in that it does not let the powder come out in crazy amounts. Infact, I found this product minimally messy…the lid twists and I don’t find powder falling out making a mess of my drawer. A base is also available for these pigments.

The twist down lids are secure as to keep the product from spilling out.

Product: These pigments come with a base called Essence Colour Arts Eye Base. It’s a squeeze out tube making it sanitary. Since it’s made especially for pigments, it has a more tacky consistency than your usual primers. I find after applying the pigments, you don’t feel the tackiness anymore. I don’t understand why these are not getting more love over the blogosphere. These are absolutely stunning. I have 3 shades. All three are so highly saturated and full on impact. There is a playful color if you’re feeling a bit edgy called ‘Broadway Starlet’ however since this is a glitter, it has to be handled with care.  Now of course you have to pat these on gently preferably with a flat brush or even better, your fingers. A plastic applicator also comes with the range but I did not really think it needful. I would not advise using these without a base as is the case with most pigments. These will make your eyelids pop, and just the thing to use on brides (especially in the subcontinent and Middle East since bold long lasting dramatic eye looks are the norm). After applying, these won’t budge for your life.  They will last through modest waterworks also. Essence is truly building up its customer base…super stuff, super price!

The ones I have: Strawberry Smoothie, Broadway Starlet and Smell the Caramel. Other colors are available including a very nice green color.

Here are the swatches to give you an idea of what they look like with the base:
