Rave: The Beauty Blender Sponge

On a whim, well slightly more than a whim (endless positive reviews) I finally tried out this seriously over priced tear shaped sponge. It's really not much to look at, one would even think for a minute how to use it. Well it just goes to prove that looks can be highly deceiving. Even though I think it is ridiculously over priced for a sponge, after seeing the end result I can safely say I feel it is worth the investment. I am talking about the original beauty blender and not the countless dupes.

Price: About 60 Dhs per pop. A good quality brush is approximately the same price or a bit more.

Packaging: Comes in a plastic container. Is available in 3 colours: the regular pink, a white and black. But they did release a purple one to celebrate the Pantone colour of the year a.k.a orchid. Click here for more on that. Also comes in a pack of 2.

Product: Initially it feels like you would expect it to feel. But to use it, you have to run it under water, whereby it expands to roughly twice its size. Next you squeeze out all the water so it doesn't feel quite as wet, just slightly damp. After dotting your foundation (ideal for liquid formulations) all over your face, it's as simple as bouncing the fat end all over your face, 30 seconds and you have the most even, most beautiful application. I tell you it takes 5 times that to apply the same product with my favorite Sigma slanted kabuk brush. The only difference is, that this gives a more lighter feel. That's probably because of the dampness whereas a brush would give you a stronger more heavier finish.

The beauty blender has made me it's biggest fan. I just love the effortless application...both process and finish. Magnificent. The tip can be used to blend in concealer and even cream blushes.

Cleaning it is also easy, just use a baby shampoo and work it in and then rinse. After drying it returns to its original size until you use it again, and you will!
