The Face-off: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair vs. The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Mask

The big 4 0 is right around the corner. It's a time when one checks for new wrinkles, a bit of sagging skin around the mouth, discoloration around the nose. Then to battle these nasties, one has no choice (eating healthy and adequate sleep are not choices where I'm concerned), but to resort to looking up reviews for a magical elixir of youth. After days of research, I narrowed it down to two products:

vs.

What do they do?

Both claim to rejuvenate the skin, make it looker younger, more lifted, reduce fine lines etc. Both are supposed to be applied after thoroughly cleansing your skin before retiring.

How much do they cost?

Well, the Advanced Night Repair costs an arm and a leg at a whopping 10,000 Rs. for the small bottle, no, I did not add a zero by mistake whereas the latter costs a hand at best at 4,000 Rs. and it has considerably more product.

What about the packaging?

Both come housed in sturdy glass bottles, both very pretty, but obviously The Body Shop product is way heavier.

The Advanced Night Repair comes with a dropper and the latter comes with a little spoon like thing to lift up the product from the tub. Sticking your finger into it is a total no-no.

Consistency?

Estee Lauder gives us a product that is a light orangish color with the consistency of a thick soup. It is not gooey or oily and absorbs well into the skin with no residue.

The Bouncy Mask however, it's a product that likes to stick together. The surface tension is amazing. It's takes a bit of effort to break the product away from the tub, and hence it is quite thick. It spreads easily enough though, leaving a thin layer of residue on the skin that doesn't fully absorb (mask).

Smell?

The Advanced Night Repair smells like a dispensary, but it kind of fades off. I've had my brothers running off because of it! It's very clinical and mediciney.

The Bouncy Mask smells divine, like a faint smell that catches you when you walk by a day old bouquet of flowers in the hall.

Effects:

For an arm and a leg, the Advanced Night Repair is not something I would repurchase, I did not see any significant change in my skin texture (though to be honest I have fairly good skin for my age).

The Bouncy Mask, although irritating, made my skin 'glow' in the morning and it DID seem to make my skin look younger. This is a repurchase and staple in my skin regimen from now on. Totally satisfied, love it, and can afford it, lasts forever!

Marks: Advanced Night Repair: 4/10
            Body Shop Bouncy Mask: 10/10
