As always, the Vice palettes that Urban Decay release every year comes with a great deal of hustle and bustle in the makeup world. These are limited edition items, and makeup junkies need to get their fix... since I did not own the previous 2 versions, I decided to cave in to my dark side.
Price: Anywhere between 270 and 300 dhs.
Packaging: I like the case the palette itself comes in, I keep mines in it, but it can be used as a nifty makeup bag, It does come with a dual ended brush, one more flat and one to blend, though really not a big fan of it. In fact I have lost mines here or there. The huge mirror is a big win, it's good in quality and you can adjust it to whatever angle you want without it plopping down.
Not a fan of the outer covering of the palette, I believe its a hit or a miss with a lot of people. I just think its a tad tacky and cheap looking. It matters not however, all woes disappear upon the opening of the palette, there is noticeable fallout, so you need to be careful, but most shades are highly pigmented. Would not recommend using without an eye primer, even though I have not used one in the swatches.
The eyeshadows have been arranged in columns of 4 to make five quads, of course you can go wild and do whatever, there are plenty of shades in multiple finishes to achieve all types of looks.
Product: I'll briefly touch on each row...all the shades mentioned are in order of appearance.
Columns 1: Neutrals
Truth is a matte, needs to be built up, a great everyday lid color. Undone is a great transition color, Downfall is predominantly a medium matte brown, but it has subtle flecks of fine glitter, but these don't transfer on the skin. Finally we have DTF which is a taupe color, good for defining,
Column 2: Jewel Tones
Dragon is a bright green, not for the faint of heart. Freeze is a very pretty blue, and beside it a deep matte blue called Heroine. Brokedown is one of my favs- a bronzy brown with a beautiful metallic finish.
Column 3: Jewel Tones
Vanity is a shimmery purple, Lucky is a very pretty coppery gold with excellent payoff, Reign is a deep brown with fine shimmer and Bobby Dazzle is an off white shimmery color. I found I had to build this one up, but it would be great for highlighting.
Column 4: Warm Jewel Tones:
This is the column that really sucks you into buying this palette. It is a very fall/winter themed column. Alien is a light pink, but oh so pretty, needs a little building up. Next is Alchemy, a bang in your face pink with burgundy undertones. The next color is a very deep purple, almost border line black called Bondage. And my other top fav Sonic, this one is pretty unique- it is a deep copper with red mixed in, very pigmented.
Column 5: Smoky Shades:
This would be your smoky quad. Last Sin is your typical shimmery champagne, nothing unique, Angel is a light taupe with shimmer, love this one. Defy- again on my top 3 favs in this palette, it is a medium gray that has every the smallest hint of sparkle but it looks matte. Revolver is soft black/gray color. I still need to bust out a true black since this can not replace that.
Would you buy this palette? If you don't have any of them then a strong maybe, but really there are cheaper dupes out there.
What's your take on this palette, a hit or a miss?
