Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Balm

Having worn more or less matte lips consistently for a couple of weeks now, this morning I felt like a different finish was in order. Also, I was sleepy so I was looking a little lack luster as it were. The culprit I suspect, was that midnight dessert that chased away my beauty sleep only for it to come right back at me in the wee hours of the morning.

So I just went through my usual routine in a very routine way, but jazzed it up a little with the Rimmel Lip Balm Jumbo stick in 200 Keep Mauving. Although I had used it on a number of occasions before, I only just noticed its awesomeness this morning.

These are available in a variety of colours, all of them very pretty, but since I shy away from reds and pasty colours that totally wash me out, I picked up the browny pinky shade in Keep Mauving. I don't really see the mauve in it, but okay.

Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tint

Blush is so in these days and companies left and right are coming out with new formulas and innovative new products to add that extra bit of color to your cheeks. And adding blush is the best way to look more refreshed and adds that bit of health to your face. I am such a cheek product fanatic so I had to pick up one of these to review for you all.

Shade 002 Touch of Berry
There were only four shades available of which 2 were more coral and peach toned and the other 2 were pink tones. I picked up the darker of the 2 pinks since I did not really want a coral and the lighter of the pinks just did a vanishing act on me.

My Best Coral Blushes- Drugstore Edition

Come spring, its time to break out the coral blushes. I'm not kidding when I say the drugstore brands have been killing it with innovative new products, blushes being the foremost product that are just as good as the higher end versions. So for you reading pleasure I present to you my all time favorite blushes in the coral color family from your local drugstore brands.

And the unveiling....

My Perfect Shade of Fuchsia

With Spring right around the corner, I was looking around my lip colors looking to upgrade accordingly. I had done my perfect shade of red earlier, but red is a classic color, ideal all year round. For spring you look to more bright vibrant colors depicting the awakening of mother nature from her winter slumber. Flower buds breaking though and the sun that begins to reveal its true self from behind the murky clouds.

Keeping that festive mood in mind, I remembered this particular lip color that was just waiting to be pulled out from the makeup bag and put into plain sight to be used. It was a recent buy, but it got tucked away during the winter, and though it of course it would be nice with a subdued eye makeup in winter (which I actually do like), in spring, pairing it with pastels or colorful liner would be interesting too. I should mention I am a big fan of this entire range.

My Favorite Mascara of the Moment

My relationship with mascaras is fickle. They don't last long and a new one enters the picture after a few weeks. Also pointedly, I am not a big fan of splurging on higher end mascaras. I think these days drugstore mascaras are really rocking it. Especially the ones from Maybelline and Rimmel.

So recently, I've been loving the Scandaleyes Mascara by Rimmel. The whole range of the Scandaleyes products are very good generally. I have reviewed the pencil liner in this range here. So anyway, I initially got the non waterproof version so that I could easily wash it off for washing my face before prayers and this did come off easily with water and eye makeup remover but I liked it so much I picked up the waterproof one for times when I would need it to wear for a long period of time. Also generally speaking, waterproof versions hold the curl better than its counterpart.

Eyeliner 101

As with all makeup products out there, the range and variety of a single type is overwhelming. Over the years, the quality has improved and innovation has played a huge part in terms of the choices we have when we go out shopping.

So today I want to go through the basic types of eyeliners out there, what effect each one is meant to give and a mention to some favorite drugstore brands with an honorary mention of one high end product as well if I have one that is.

My Five Lipstick Picks for the Cooler Fall/Winter Months

Frankly, I've never been one to wear any particular shades of lipsticks according to the season, but its a general trend to be sporting more mauve, plum, wine, purple and berry shades in the cold season. Peach, light pinks, coral and orange are more summery colors. So anyways, in accordance to this trend I picked out 5 shades for the current season.

And they are:

From the left: Viva Glam 3 (Matte)
Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 02 (Satin)
Diana of London Extra Long Stay Lipstick in Best Star 08 (Matte)
Avon Color Trend Lipstick in Intimate (Satin)
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Midnight Plum 338 (Satin with micro glitter)

What's in my out the door to-go Makeup Pouch?

Sometimes we're in such a darn hurry that we don't get time to even smear on some lipstick. For just such a situation, or if I have to be staying overnight someplace, I keep some hassle free easy to use products. A random moisturizer suffices as a primer which is usually haunting some dark nook and cranny in my purse but since the pouch is quite tiny, that does not get to hang out with the makeup itself. I would not normally use these makeup products or most of them if I have some time before headed out. I do admit that the only mirror I have is the tiny one that comes with the Bobbi Brown concealer but lets move on to the actual stuff:

From the top : Rimmel London Makeup Pouch
Victoria's Secret Metallic Eyes Palette
Max Factor Mineral Foundation in Warm Almond
Lancome sample size Mascara-Virtuous
Sample size Urban Decay lip gloss (came in one of the Naked Palettes)
Ecotools powder brush
Bobbi Brown corrector in Peach
MAC blush in Raizin
Avon Everlasting Lipstick in Ginger
Essence Long Lasting eye pencil in 02 Hot Chocolate
Little brush that came in the Nude 'tude Palette by The Balm
Sigma Blending brush, travel size E25

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal (waterproof) Eye Pencil in 001

This is one of the best pencils out there...of the drugstore variety. We think of Dior, Chanel and Clinique, even MAC...but this particular pencil can rival them all and knock them right out of the race. I once had one by Dior and it was...hmmm....whats the word I'm looking for....'aweful, hard, and ridiculously expensive'. So this review is going to be sweet and short.

Price: 26 Dhs at the local Rimmel stands at almost every mall.

Rimmel Gel Eye Liner in 001 Black

As different brands boarded on the gel liner train, all of us got equally obsessed. The hunt for the better, more lasting, more intense product was on. What was not to like about these tiny little pots of magic that could literally transform your entire look. It was during this period of hit and trials that I got my hands on this little thing.

Price: This is available easily at all major malls nationwide for about 35 UAE dhs or thereabouts. Though at first glance this seems rather cheap you have to bear in mind it has lesser product too. So it averages about the same price, infact a bit more expensive than other drugstore gel liners.
