Matte lipsticks are back with a bang. I've always been partial to a good matte lip. This particular line from Revlon has something for everyone, whether you're a nude lips girl, to a hot red one. There are a couple of beautiful reds in this collection. But my personal favorite is the one called Mauve it Over. The name sounds so cute.

My Five Top Pink/Pinkish Lipsticks
Pink is such a versatile makeup color, and most used. It's pretty much a safe bet with most makeup looks.
These are my most versatile and loved pink/pinkish lipsticks in a wide range of shades. All of them are just classics and must haves.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in 006 Ultimate Orchid
I featured this product in an Orchid schemed post I did a few days ago (click here). The reason was the most beautiful light mauve pink color that directly attracted me as being the most beautiful lip color for a no makeup makeup look. I am a huge fan of Revlon lip products, including their glosses and chubby stick type balms and their classic lipsticks, but sadly this one product just does not even come up to that mark even by a fraction.

Play it up with Orchid
A confession before we start: I use the term "orchid" rather loosely. When it was declared Pantone color of the year, I thought to myself, it is indeed a beautiful color, but not one so easily incorporated into daily life, especially for me who is an all neutrals kind of gal. This prompted me to have a closer look into my collection and see what I could qualify to be included in the 'orchid family' and though I didn't have a lot, I came up with a modest little bunch of makeup items that I could "broadly" pass of as being in the orchid color scheme.

Dupes of the 24/7 Urban Decay Eyeliner Pencil in Perversion
When they said that the best eyeliner pencil out there was this one, (whoever 'they' may be), they weren't kidding. All other pencils are compared to this pencil, it is the set standard to which any new eyeliner pencil out there is matched against.
Until recently, I did not posses this eyeliner, so I was clueless. I did have some very good eyeliner pencils though, one of which I imagined would be close to the 24/7 pencils, from what I heard of it. Turns out I was not that wrong, in fact I stumbled upon another very close product.
There is no denying that the 24/7 pencil in the shade perversion is the blackest of blacks, has the smoothest of applications, and is very long lasting.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush
2013 was the year of the giant chubby pencils....all products were taking this convenient, cutely packaged form....eyeshadows, lip products, concealers, contouring and highlighting products and who knows what else. So having heard about the hype about these Revlon Balms, I thought I should also dip into the pool of the jumbo pencils. And it wasn't difficult to do, let me tell you that.
The marketing was intense, the blogosphere was rampant with positive reviews and everyone was clambering to get one. And the colors...oh the colors!!!

Does that seriously not want you to reach out and grab a few?

3 Drugstore Foundation Purchase Regrets
I like a good foundation, who doesn't..but it happens more than often that when you buy a foundation and test it and you're ecstatic that it looks brilliant....you get home and put it to the real test, only to find out that it did not meet your expectations. Some aspect of the foundation did not work for you, whether it was the wear, or the oxidation on it was crazy or that it broke you out or it was simply not your shade. The shade issue is most common because when we buy it, we test it in the glare of the shop lights. Here's a tip, apply it and then check it out in the natural light, away from the shop's bright orange lights.
Since I do a lot of research and deliberate quite a bit before making any purchase, I usually do not get misses, but still, nobody is perfect.
So I'm going to reveal 3 foundations that did not work for me, why and how I am trying to somehow make them work so that they don't go to total waste.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination to Oily Skin.
Before starting be warned this is more a rant than a rave. This foundation did not impress me even though contradictory to my above statement, I actually had been using it for years. But in my defense, it was in the days before I found Clinique or Lancome or even Rimmel or Bourjois. I know this foundation has a huge cult following and it is often stated to be a dupe of Makeup Forever HD foundation which I have never tried. But if it is then I'm not inclined to try it.
Let’s see about the pros:
Shade 180 Sand Beige
- It has good coverage. I still need concealer for blemishes and under eye circles.
- Its smell is not unpleasant, though its not entirely pleasant either, I don’t have an issue with it. To me its like a bit soapy sort of and it stays on for quite some time.
- It is also long lasting, easily lasts the day. But I do notice some oil breaking through after a few hours.
- It has soft flex, which is supposed to be something good for the skin I am guessing and an SPF of 6.
- It comes in a wide variety of shades from pale to very dark.
So it seems to be pretty good right? But…
